Engineering Challenge & On-Site Alignment

Eagle Marine, an elite team of passionate marine engineers and naval architects dedicated to transforming the Middle East marine and offshore sector, approached Datai Marine to design a highly specialized mooring winch system for a barge project.

To transition from the preliminary quotation to deep technical alignment, we invited their technical delegation to our manufacturing facility. Following rigorous on-site workshops, Eagle Marine outlined three non-negotiable engineering constraints:

Performance Metrics
A strict nominal pulling capacity of 100kN coupled with a static brake holding capacity of 300kN.

Dimensional Constraints
Extreme height limitation—the overall winch height could not exceed 1.2 meters to match the barge’s low-profile deck grid.

Mobility Requirements
High versatility, allowing the heavy equipment to be easily transferred from the vessel deck to the shore infrastructure.

Advanced Structural Engineering & Materials

Our technical department rapidly executed finite element analysis (FEA) and structural load calculations. To achieve a 300kN static load capacity within the 1.2-meter height ceiling, we re-engineered the winch’s core architecture:

Premium Material Selection
Utilized GB/T Q355B high-strength steel plate, allowing us to downsize structural profiles for compactness while significantly upgrading the overall structural yields.
Mechanical Lock Security
The mast is fitted with a reliable safety locking mechanism to avoid accidental sudden descent, delivering excellent operational safety.

Optimized Design for Seamless Maritime Logistics

To solve the vessel-to-shore mobility challenge, our engineering team integrated multiple heavy-duty handling features directly into the winch chassis:

  • Integrated Forklift Pockets & Lifting Eyes: Engineered dedicated forklift holes into the foundation and aligned four high-load lifting holes at the exact same height to prevent tilting during crane operations.
  • Quick-Disconnect Hydraulic Couplings: Equipped the system with quick-connection oil pipe joints, enabling rapid, spill-free disconnection during transit.
  • Heavy-Duty Protective Grille: Added a robust steel grid cover to shield the hydraulic motor from accidental impacts during rough transportation and deployment.

Eagle Marine reviewed the structural optimization alongside our foundation strength analysis reports and highly commended the layout, cross-verifying the design against stringent Bureau Veritas (BV) compliance standards.

Rigorous Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) & Delivery

Three months after the final blueprint freeze, production of the hydraulic mooring winch package was completed. The Eagle Marine engineering team returned to our facility to personally witness the comprehensive testing protocols.

The mast is fitted with a reliable safety locking mechanism to avoid accidental sudden descent, delivering excellent operational safety.
Class Certification Delivery
The system successfully cleared all operational stress tests and was delivered with official BV Certification.
